Community is at the core of the Waban Improvement Society. Established in 1889, the Waban Improvement Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving all people who live and/or work in Waban. The WIS is committed to community building, cultural enrichment, and promotes any activity intended to improve Waban and fosters a sense of community. Its activities include running the Waban Library Center, Waban Village Day, landscaping community assets, the Progressive Dinner, Waban Lights and Sing-along, and The Newton Piano Summit.
