Our 14th Annual Village Day kicked off by the Family Fun Run at 10:00 am.  Racers of all ages are encouraged to participate, including children who are allowed to ride bikes and scooters along the 3.1 mile race course.  All racers must check-in and register at the Fun Run table in Waban Square at 9:00 AM and will be able to pick up their T-shirts and race numbers there as well.  The registration fee is $20/individual or $50/family (up to 4 members) and includes the race day T-shirt(s), which will be made from cooling performance fabric again this year to help celebrate our 13th Fun Run!

The entertainment begins at 11 am. with the best young students from Waban’s newest resident, The Suzuki Music School.

We had a great surprise this year thanks to Upper Falls Mayor Jerry Reilly, the Giant Puppets Parade!

This year’s headliner, The Rocky Nook String Band takes the stage at noon.  Rocky Nook String Band is a Boston-based musical collaborative that blurs barriers between Bluegrass, Celtic, and acoustic Rock and Roll traditions.  Featuring skilled musicians from a variety of backgrounds, the band spins Americana folklore into unpredictable shapes and original songs, punctuated with complex harmonies and improvisations. Performing local festivals and venues, the band has gathered a devoted following.

Michael Bennett, vocals, guitar
Tim Correll, mandolin, vocals
Kurt Schellenberg, banjo, vocals
Bekka Schellenberg, fiddle, vocals
Joy Grimes, viola
Eric Rosenthal, drums
Jules Schellenberg, bass

The Newton Family Singers
