Ten years ago, the Waban Improvement Society began Waban Village Day which includes rides, activities, and entertainment for all ages. The WIS differentiates its Village Day celebration by featuring internationally recognized talent from a wide variety of genres: Jazz, Reggae, Soul, Blues, and Rock. This year we are pleased to announce that World renowned saxophonist Philippe Cretien and director of the Rivers Jazz ensembles will be bringing his professional group in addition to his student ensembles. Performances will start at 11am and run to 3pm Philippe R. Crettien is chairman of the jazz department at the Rivers School Conservatory in Weston, MA, leading instrumental instruction, saxophone, Jazz Orchestra, and other ensembles. He has a B.A. from the Berklee College of Music; honors in philosophy and literature from the French Lycee of London; and a degree in Musicology from the Sorbonne, Paris.

The Newton Family Singers is an intergenerational family chorus, bringing together families and friends of all ages to sing and perform folk and traditional American music. This is their 4th appearance at Waban Village Day
