WABAN LIGHTS & FAMILY SING-ALONG

WABAN LIGHTS & FAMILY SING-ALONG

‘Tis the season for celebrating with neighbors! Sunday, December 8th, 4:45pm

Please join us for hot chocolate, sweet treats and the festive community sing-along at the WABAN LIBRARY CENTER at 4:45pm before we move outside to flip the switch to light up our beloved WLC building and surrounding grounds.

We look forward to lighting up our beloved Waban Library Center building and surrounding grounds and turning the entire area into a wonderland of light to enjoy throughout the winter.

This year’s sing-a-long will be led by Dave Carroll and the Highland Music Conservatory

To save all the paper and trees, we are putting lyrics to the proposed songs below.

Song Lyrics:

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow
On a one horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tail ring,
making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
I thought I’d take a ride,
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank,
And then we got upsot.

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.

Now the ground is white
Go it while you’re young
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song
Just get a bob tailed bay
two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you’ll take the lead

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.

O Waban Tree

O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
How lovely are your branches!
O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
How lovely are your branches!
Not only green in summer’s heat,
But also winter’s snow and sleet.
O Waban tree, O Waban tree,
How lovely are your branches!

O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
Of all the trees most lovely;
O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
Of all the trees most lovely.
Each year you bring to us delight
With brightly shining Christmas light!
O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
Of all the trees most lovely.

O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
We learn from all your beauty;
O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
We learn from all your beauty.
Your bright green leaves with festive cheer,
Give hope and strength throughout the year.
O Waban Tree, O Waban tree,
We learn from all your beauty.

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the SnowmanWas a jolly happy soulWith a corn cob pipe and a button noseAnd two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the SnowmanIs a fairytale they sayHe was made of snow, but the children knowHow he came to life one day
There must have been some magicIn that old top hat they foundFor when they placed it on his headHe began to dance around
Oh, Frosty the SnowmanWas alive as he could beAnd the children say he could laugh and playJust the same as you and me
Frosty the SnowmanWas a jolly happy soulWith a corn cob pipe and a button noseAnd two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the SnowmanA fairytale they sayWas made of snowBut he came to life one day
There must have been some magicIn that old top hat they found (some magic in that hat)For when they placed it on his headHe began to dance around
Frosty the Snowman (snowman)Knew the sun was hot that day (hot that day)So he said, “Let’s run, and we’ll have some funNow before I melt away”
Frosty the SnowmanHad to hurry on his wayBut he waved good-bye, saying, “Don’t you cryI’ll be back again some day!”

Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel

I have a little dreidel.

I made it out of clay.
And when it’s dry and ready,

then dreidel I shall play.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

I made it out of clay.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

then dreidel I shall play.

It has a lovely body,

with legs so short and thin.
When it gets all tired,

it drops and then I win!
Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

with leg so short and thin.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

it drops and then I win!

My dreidel’s always playful.

It loves to dance and spin.
A happy game of dreidel,

come play now let’s begin.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

it loves to dance and spin.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel.

Come play now let’s begin.

I have a little dreidel.

I made it out of clay.
When it’s dry and ready,

dreidel I shall play.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

I made you out of clay.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel,

then dreidel I shall play.

Let It Snow

Oh, the weather outside is frightfulBut the fire is so delightfulAnd since we’ve no place to goLet it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
Man it doesn’t show signs of stoppingAnd I brought me some corn for poppingThe lights are turned way down lowLet it snow! Let it snow!
When we finally kiss goodnightHow I’ll hate going out in the stormBut if you’ll really hold me tightAll the way home I’ll be warm
And the fire is slowly dyingAnd, my dear, we’re still goodbyingBut as long as you’d love me soLet it snow! Let it snow and snow!
When we finally kiss goodnightHow I’ll hate going out in the stormBut if you really grab me tightAll the way home I’ll be warm
Oh, the fire is slowly dyingAnd, my dear, we’re still goodbyingBut as long as you’d love me soLet it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Winter Wonderland

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glisteningA beautiful sightWe’re happy tonightWalking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebirdHere to stay is a new birdTo sing a love songWhile we stroll alongWalking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow, we can build a snowmanWe’ll pretend that he is Parson BrownHe’ll say, are you married? We’ll say, no manBut you can do the job when you’re in town
Later on, we’ll conspireAs we dream by the fireTo face unafraidThe plans that we’ve madeWalking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow, we can build a snowmanWe’ll pretend that he is Parson BrownHe’ll say, are you ready? We’ll say, no manBut you can do the job when you’re in town
Later on, we’ll conspireAs we dream by the fireTo face unafraidThe plans that we’ve madeWalking in a winter wonderlandWalking in a winter wonderlandWalking in a winter wonderland

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on
Our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yule-tide gay
From now on
Our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years
We all will be together
If the fates allow
hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Oh Hanukkah

Oh Hanukkah, Oh, Hanukkah
Come light the menorah
Come to our party
We’ll all dance the hora
Gather ’round the table
We’ll give you a treat,
Dreidels to play with and latkes to eat

And while we are playing
The candles are burning low
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago

Oh Hanukkah, Oh, Hanukkah
Come light the menorah
Come to our party
We’ll all dance the hora
Gather ’round the table
We’ll give you a treat,
Dreidels to play with and latkes to eat

And while we are playing
The candles are burning low
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago

Oh Hanukkah, Oh, Hanukkah
Come light the menorah
Come to our party
We’ll all dance the hora
Gather ’round the table
We’ll give you a treat,
Dreidels to play with and latkes to eat

And while we are playing

One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
